Every year we select artworks by local and Italian artists and we present them at Dimora delle Muse in an intimate and informal setting

 

For the 2023/2024 season we have invited Maestro Piero Mazzi.

Piero Mazzi, born in the beautiful landscape of Maremma (Tuscany), in the mid sixties moves to Florence where he studies with different artists such as Ugo Bini, Mario Moschi e Primo Conti. In June 2001 Mazzi receives an important tribute: the “Museè Piero Mazzi” is inaugurated in Les Cullayes, Lusanne, considered a place of cultural interest and inserted in the circuit of the State “Musei Cantonal”. In June 2005 he realises a sculpture in brass and granite, “Flight in freedom”, bought by Capoliveri’s Council and installed in a city square.

Blue and red. Blue which induces reflection, introspection: red full of dynamism, movement, energy. The artist wears glasses with coloured lenses which paint and deform reality: redraw proportions and visual rules. Reality, one should underline, is never completely abandoned, never substituted by the chromatic/formal game.

Parallel worlds appear in Mazzi’s canvas like magic, and find in chromatic tension, in the sentiment of colour, the right to exist. It’s undeniable that colour is Mazzi’s distinctive characteristic: it is because of this that subjects apparently distant in emotion join together in a single discourse, finding in the rigorous bi-chromatism their intimate coherence.
